4 Wedding Venues in the UK to consider for Your Dream Nigerian Wedding

Planning your dream Nigerian wedding in the UK? Then check out our list of four awesome wedding venues guaranteed to make your Nigerian wedding unforgettable. From breathtaking ballrooms with crystal chandeliers to outstanding decor and architecture, these venues are perfect for grand Nigerian weddings. We'll breakdown what makes each place special and provide answers to some of the most asked questions when wedding venue hunting.

These venues are listed in no particular order as all have a lot to offer depending on what you're looking for. Additionally, venue costs vary and are dependent on several factors such as day of the week, month of the year etc. For the purposes of this post, our price tag allocations assume a weekend date (Saturday) in a peak month.

  • ££: up to 10k

  • £££: £11k+

However, it is always advisable to negotiate the hire price when you speak with the venue directly as there may be room for flexibility. So with a little favour and finesse, you never know...

1. Meridian Grand, North London, £££

It likely doesn't come as a shock that the Meridian Grand is one of our top picks for a Nigerian wedding. It exudes that unmistakable 'Lagos big boy' wedding energy, and those who get it, get it!

However, it's crucial to note that there are two ballrooms at this venue. This means that if you choose to book only one of the ballrooms for your wedding, there might be another event taking place in the second ballroom on the same day (i.e., non-exclusive dry hire).

Below is a summary of the key points for this venue:

  • Capacity: seats 1000+ guests. Up to 650 guests in Grand Ballroom and 380 in the Meridian ballroom, with a dance floor

  • Car park: Spaces for 200+ vehicles

  • Corkage fee: £500 (subject to change)

  • Hire: Tables and banqueting chairs included in the hire cost

  • Catering: Kitchen is for their approved caterers only, additional charges may apply for external catering services

  • Additional Benefits: Bridal Suite included in the hire cost

2. The Willows, Ilford, ££

The Willows made it's presence known in 2023, and if it didn't flood your timeline, it definitely flooded ours - for all the right reasons! This venue is absolutely gorgeous and sits on 18 acres of grounds.

Again, there are two function rooms at this venue. The main ballroom and and an additional Suite upstairs which seats up to 120 guest. This means that if you choose to book only one of the rooms for your wedding, there might be another event taking place in the second room on the same day.

Below is a summary of the key points for this venue:

  • Capacity: 500+ guests in the Grand ballroom, plus 120 guests in the Premier Suite

  • Car Park: Spaces for 200+ vehicles

  • Music Restrictions: Music off by 11:30pm

  • Hire: Tables and banqueting chairs included in the hire cost

  • Catering: External catering permitted, additional costs may apply

  • Additional Benefits: Bridal Suite included in the hire cost

3. Grand Sapphire, Croydon, £££

The Grand Sapphire has been on our radar for a long time and despite the location being quite out of the way, the many amenities that this venue offers more than make up for the distance in our opinion.

Although there are multiple Suites at this venue, the Grand Ballroom has its own separate entrance and foyer area, which is a big plus even if you choose to go ahead with the non-exclusive dry hire.

Below is a summary of the key points for this venue:

  • Capacity: 1,000+ guests in the Grand Ballroom

  • Car Park: parking for 100+ vehicles

  • Hire: Tables and banqueting chairs

  • Catering: External catering welcome

  • Additional Benefits: Bridal Suite, separate entrance, foyer, parking officials, cleaning staff included in the hire cost

4. Grand Connaught Rooms, Convent Garden, £££

The Grand Connaught Rooms is an iconic venue nestled in the heart of Central London. It is hard not to be impressed by the art-deco and 42ft ceilings that this venue boasts so regardless of the size of your wedding, your day is guaranteed to feel elegant and grand.

There are a multiple rooms at the venue so again, this is a non-exclusive dry hire venue.

Below is a summary of the key points for this venue:

  • Capacity: 200 - 1,000 guests depending on the package chosen

  • Car Park: No parking available at the venue

  • Hire: Tables, chairs, cutlery, crockery, table cloths, napkins and dance floor are included in the hire cost

  • Late License of 1am, which can be extended to 2am for an extra £1,000

  • Catering: External catering welcome
